Our Team

Filmmaking is a collaborative effort and at ShebaFilms we rely on a local team to produce our work. The key members of our team have been involved in many different projects and have the skills required to produce high-quality outputs.

Adrien Harpelle

Sound Engineer | Composer | Editor | Director | Producer

Adrien Harpelle is a musician, director and editor. He has spent the last 9 years performing in several punk/alternative acts. In the last year he has composed for 2 short films and produced 2 albums. Adrien is a singer/songwriter and sound technician. He has been a sound recordist, boom operator and composer for Shebafilms. In addition to his work with sound, he has also been an editor on numerous video productions. He is a graduate of the Music Industry Arts program at Algonquin College and has since produced and released several albums and worked on numerous films.

Alyssa Kusik

Camera | Producer | Art Design | Graphics | Marketing | Production & Event Coordinator

Alyssa Kusik is a multi-disciplinary artist from Thunder Bay, Ontario. She is a working filmmaker who works on all phases of production, most often as a videographer, artistic direction, graphics, and color editor. She works on documentaries about history, globalization, social justice, the environment and mental health issues. Filmmaking has guided her artistic practice to create art that drives discussion.

Alyssa is a versatile artist who is driven by design and expression. She is a creative director as well as a project and event coordinator.  She works with not-for-profits, charities and is an active volunteer with various community organizations. Alyssa is currently the Treasurer on the board of Flash Frame Film and Video Network.  

As a contemporary expressionist visual artist, her artwork tackles issues of mental health. Her art is full of striking colors and contrasts with abstract lines and textures. She works with acrylic, mixed media and textiles. Her art has been shown at a number of juried exhibitions.

Dianne Brothers

Writer | Director | Producer

Dianne Brothers has now been involved in filmmaking in Thunder Bay for nearly a decade. Each of her films has been more ambitious than the last. She currently has a number of projects in development. She is a writer and producer on an animated film adaptation of Sheila Burnford’s children’s book Mr. Noah and the Second Flood, a book, published in 1973, that foresaw the impending climate disaster awaiting the world. She is also in post-production on a short comedy film focused on wedding toasts.

Katie Green

Editor | Writer | Project Coordinator | Researcher

Katie is born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. After completing her  undergraduate degree in history at the University of Guelph in 2015, she moved back home and completed her Master of Arts degree in history at Lakehead University under the supervision of Dr. Ron Harpelle. Her Major Research Project focused on World War Two history and gender history. Katie has been involved in a number of local film and research projects, including as an intern on the Reel Memories of the Lakehead project, a collaboration with the Thunder Bay Museum to restore and digitize 16mm news footage from 1954-1979. Katie also works part-time in aviation and enjoys learning something new every day!

Derek Okeese

Editor | Camera | Composer

Derek Okeese is a video editor, videographer, and composer. Getting his start editing YouTube videos in 2018. He has worked with multiple content creators on YouTube, Twitch, and Instagram. Also, a 24 minute documentary titled “Journey To Our Homeland”. Where he also composed the music for. The film was nominated and awarded for Research at the Yorkton Film Festival in 2023.

RJ Cayanga

Animator | Animation Director | 3D artist

RJ is a Filipino who immigrated with his family to Canada in 2008 as a means of discovering and pursuing better opportunities for themselves. He graduated from the Interactive Media Development program at Confederation College and received his Advanced Diploma in Media Arts. He is a storyboard artist, motion designer, and animator.
RJ has taken the position of Animation Director with the Shebafilms studios team on their various projects including the 4 episode animated series Mr Noah & the Second Flood.
His passion for animation has encouraged him to explore and innovate new visual and animation styles that best suit his artistic identity. RJ is inspired to pursue a career in the video game industry venturing into 3D Modeling.

Martin King

Animator | Storyboard Artist | Character Design

Martin King is an Ojibway multi-media artist from Thunder Bay, Ontario with family roots in Gull Bay First Nation and Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation, though he went to high school in Flemington, New Jersey. Returning to Thunder Bay in 2010 to study film, Martin graduated from the Broadcasting and Film program at Confederation College and dove head first into the arts and media community in a variety of ways, including: directing, acting, and animation.

Martin has had his art presented in multiple exhibits, in October 2022, Martin King held his first solo gallery exhibition with Co. Lab Gallery. Martin directed another feature length movie Yesterday’s Rose a murder mystery movie and it premiered at The Vox Popular Media Arts Festivals on September 9th 2023. As of late, Martin is an animator, character designer, and storyboard artist for Shebafilms Studios. He is familiar with many computer editing software, including: Adobe Photoshop CC and the Adobe suite, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut X and, Storyboard Pro 6 and Harmony 21

Elizabeth Nunn

Administration | Bookkeeping | Copy Writer | Grants

Liz Nunn is an Anthropology undergraduate student at Lakehead University with a passion for art and community. She began her work experience with being a retail manager, before changing careers in pursuit of a more art-focused industry. Liz first started volunteering with the Vox Popular Media Arts Festival in 2021, and has since moved from being a volunteer, to a summer student, to now an event coordinator and administrative assistance with the organization. She also works with Shebafilms and several other film companies and not-for-profit organizations as an administrator and a bookkeeper. Liz is currently interning with Flash Frame Film and Video Network to learn about accounting for film, and working with not-for-profit organizations.

Marlon Legarde

Animator | Design | Audio Engineer | Composer

Marlon Legarde is an indigenous multi-disciplinary artist from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Marlon is a musician and visual artist. He is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter in his bands Visual Past and Rider Waites. He has been performing since 2017. 

Marlon designed and animated the Vox Popular Media Arts animated ad for the 2022 festival using Storyboard Pro and Toon Boom Harmony. Recently he has been learning how to animate with character rigs and animate frame by frame.

Tom Peotto

Writer | Researcher

Tom Peotto is a historian, writer, researcher, and raconteur. He’s known Ron and Kelly since 2002 and worked for them since 2019 on the “News from the Giant” project. In his spare time he enjoys birdwatching, b-movies, and bloviating.

Dominik Forde

Animator

Dominik Forde is a Polish, Trinidadian born in Mississauga. Dominik currently lives in Thunder Bay
Ontario. He graduated from the Interactive Media Development program at Confederation College in 2023. He is a character designer and animator. Dominik spends his spare time practicing his digital art and learning about VR development, eager to expand his knowledge and abilities in different forms of media development.

Adam Okeese

Animator
